Description :
The cloisonné enamel is made primarily of boric acid, saltpeter, and alkaline. After the mixture has cooled and become a solid, it is ground into a fine powder and mixed with water. It is in this form that it is applied to the pin.
After the cloisonné enamel is applied, the pin is fired at over 1000 degrees C. It is then sanded, polished, then welded to its backing. After the copper filigree is shined, it is put through a final, electroplating process.
It is only through this complicated process that the finished product appears before your eyes. If certain details are lost, screen-printing can compensate for the imperfections and achieve the desired result.
