  • TAIWAN ITS Sketching the Future of Transportation Industry

    Mar 09, 2018

Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will be hosting the first "Taiwan International Intelligent Transportation Show (TAIWAN ITS)” from April 11-14, 2018 at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1. The Show will primarily be showcasing vehicles, Internet of Vehicles and Telematics systems. The organizer will invite professionals from the public transportation and rolling stock industries as well as municipal governments to display their achievement on intelligent transportation development. This Show is expected to blend B2B and B2G (government) together to create new business opportunities in Taiwan's smart transportation.

According to data from the Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute of the Institute for Information Industry (III), it is estimated that Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) industry production had reached US$36 billion dollars (about NT$1.08 trillion) in 2017 and is estimated to reach US$48 billion dollars (about NT$1.44 trillion) in 2020. It's clear that intelligent transportation has become the future trend of the industry. In order to assist businesses to lay out their strategies and fully utilize government resources from the Forward-Looking Infrastructure Development Program, TAITRA organizes the "Taiwan International Intelligent Transportation Show", at which all information on intelligent transportation will be gathered to help local businesses and government agencies grasp global market movements. TAITRA will not only be inviting the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, National Freeway Bureau, Taiwan Railways Administration and Bureau of Taiwan High-Speed Rail but will also extend its invitation to government officials from Department of Transportation of New Southbound countries through our representative offices. These officials will be invited to attend the show, participate in seminars and forums, and witness Taiwan's energy on intelligent transportation.

The Show will be focusing on three areas: the "Public Transportation Management System", "Traffic Information System", and "Vehicle Assembly/ Vehicle Body/ Vehicle Design System". Exhibitors include manufacturers of In-Vehicle Computers, Infotainment Systems, Digital Maps, Vehicle Body Materials, Repair Equipment, GPS, eTag etc. are expected to join the show. TAITRA is also reaching out vigorously to Taoyuan City, which is among the top performers of the transportation industry export particularly with its collaboration with US-based Linkay in introducing unmanned electric buses into the city and proposes to call on all-electric vehicle vendors in the area to participate in the show. In addition, Taiwan's leading rolling stock manufacturer--Taiwan Rolling Stock Co., Ltd., and the Hsinchu City Government are also expected to participate in the show.

It was announced in the most recent Intelligent Transportation Systems World Congress that there are four primary aspects to intelligent transportation development in smart cities around the globe: 1. Internet of Vehicles and Autonomous Vehicles; 2. Big Data and Analytics; 3. Mobility as a Service, MaaS; 4. Smart Cities. The ultimate aim is to establish a safer, more efficient, more equitable and sustainable transportation system. TAITRA has been acting as the export platform for auto parts industry through Taipei AMPA for more than thirty years, and has advanced and evolved by introducing new exhibition such as AutoTronics and electric vehicles. In keeping with global trends, TAIRA will be holding Taiwan ITS in 2018 for the first time. It is expected that this show will highlight the most innovative developmental outcomes of Taiwan's Intelligent Transportation System industry, particularly in areas such as smart traffic control, public transportation, Internet of Vehicles and big data applications.

You are welcomed to visit the 3-in-1 show in Taipei this April. For more information on these shows, please check out the official website for Taipei AMPA, Taiwan ITS and AutoTronics Taipei: www.TaipeiAMPA.com.tw
