Bar Convent in S?o Paulo from 2019

The Bar Convent Berlin will expand its international activities in 2019, adding its first-ever event in Brazil. On 17 and 18 June, international spirits brands and industry experts will meet local bar owners and bartenders in this sophisticated and specialised market, which thus far lacks a central B2B meeting place for the bar and spirits industry. The Bar Convent São Paulo is hosted jointly by trade show organiser Reed Exhibitions Alcantara Machado in Brazil and Reed Exhibitions Deutschland, the organiser of the Bar Convent in Berlin.
“After the launch of the Bar Convent Brooklyn, the expansion to South America now is the second logical step in our global strategy”, says Michael Freter, managing director of Reed Exhibitions Deutschland. “We’re thus expanding our offer to the industry to bring together providers and users in exciting markets for direct talks.”
The largest country in South America has a rich spirits tradition. The industry has made a quantitative and qualitative leap forward in the last ten years. Its growth has been buoyed by the ongoing urbanisation trend, which continues to fuel the demand for related recreational and nightlife activities. An annual increase in the consumption of premium spirits of three per cent is expected for 2018 and 2019. “We want to support the bar industry in Brazil in increasingly positioning itself on the list of the 100 best bars worldwide”, says Paulo Octávio Pereira de Almeida, vice president of Reed Exhibitions Alcantara Machado. “The trade show won’t just showcase the latest trends in the spirits market, it will also make available international and local content for the bartender community in the entire country.”
The aim of the event is to convey knowledge, trends, experiences and business insights while simultaneously developing the relationships between famous manufacturers of premium spirits, bartenders and owners in the hospitality industry. “We want to leverage the international know-how brought to Brazil by the Bar Convent to support the continued advancement of the industry”, says BCB director Petra Lassahn. “In particular, we care about bringing the structure and unique atmosphere of the BCB in Berlin to São Paulo.” This includes the focus on high-quality spirits, beer, mixers and coffee; international standards; and an extensive supporting programme with leading international subject area experts.
