AQUA TAIWAN: From Factory Chains to Exhibitors and Global Distributors

AQUA Taiwan will be held October 8-10, 2014 at Kaohsiung Exhibition Center. To date, more than 134 exhibitors have signed for 214 booths to showcase their products and services at the event. Pre-registered visitors will come from at least 14 countries including Singapore, Romania, China, Vietnam, USA, Belgium and Jordan. This annual international trade event is Taiwan's first and exclusive water trade show and an ideal platform for water professionals to network the latest solutions, services and technologies.

Under the glowing sun of southern Taiwan, reporters from key markets around the world joined a TAITRA-led factory tour from July 29 to 30 to probe the factories that churn out much of the leading exported water-related equipment. The tour also served as a build up to AQUA TAIWAN, Taiwan's first dedicated event for the water industry on October 8-10 at Kaohsiung Exhibition Center which is organized by TAITRA (The Taiwan External Trade Development Council).

The two-day factory tour introduced the strengths of Taiwan water industry to the trade press that included Michael Seller (Public Relations Manager of the Australian Water Association affiliated with Water Journal) and Arjan Veering (editor at the Dutch-language magazine WaterForum).

The excursion first visited ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute), Taiwan's leading R&D center headquartered in Hsinchu, and Tankpac in Taichung that manufactures more than 60% of global pressure tanks. Further south in Kaohsiung they visited Caware Filtering Corp which holds a leading place in filtration and Wei Han's special Viscarb filter factory. Finally, the tour wrapped up in Pingtung, at the south end of the island with a tour of Rotek's comprehensive water treatment solutions, a full-scale Design-Build-Operate project, and the Cheng-Ching Lake Water Treatment Plant operated by China Ecotek which can pump 540,000 tons a day. This was topped off by a trip to the Green Forest's 14.2-acre Nanzih waste treatment plant.

"I'll definitely recommend your water professionals to Australian businesses when I get back to my country," said Michael Seller. And Arjan Veering was impressed by the factory tour: "The tour gave a fine impression of the way Taiwan is working on its water technology."
